Voice, rhythm and movement play a fundamental role in a child's early development experiences. When children learn to express themselves using song, drumming and dance, they are empowered to communicate in a different way.
The Urban Griots Playground is a family workshop and early literacy education program that engages children through embodied modes of language, learning and communication. Each session features an instrument petting zoo, a drum practice circle, digital learning activities using the Drumball and stage play/performance through body movement and improvisation.
At the end of each 4-week series, families are invited to join the Music Is Healing collective as part of our public Open House event.
